OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE AWARD

PURPOSE

The Outstanding Advocate Award was established to To recognize an exceptional educator and professional who has demonstrated outstanding advocacy efforts in the TESOL field, in the state of Maryland, that align with the association's vision, mission, values, and commitments. The award is presented at the Fall Conference.

CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY 

This award is given to individuals who have demonstrated significant and sustained advocacy efforts as an educator directly involved with the TESOL field and multilingual learner students in Maryland. 

Applications are judged based on evidence of:

Impact

• Exemplary advocacy efforts that resulted in meaningful change with demonstrated positive impact on multilingual learners, their communities, and TESOL professionals.

Commitment to DEIA

• Demonstrated long-term dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access

Sustained Advocacy

• Ongoing advocacy efforts showing commitment and passion over time

Alignment with TESOL

• Advocacy work consistent with Maryland TESOL’s mission, vision, values, and commitments
